11 film projects received support
For the next round of funding this year, Film II. 2025, the committee of the National Cultural Foundation has decided to grant funding to 11 film projects. The grant amount to be distributed in this round is ISK 1,055,000.
The purpose of the grant is to produce and develop Faroese film with an emphasis on fiction, documentary and art film.
The Committee has processed the applications in accordance with the provisions of Act no. 60 of 17 May 2005 on support for culture and art, etc., as amended by Legislative Act no. 45 of 15 May 2014, Parliamentary Act no. 34 of 30 April 2015 and Decree no. 3 of 6 January 2025.
With the new decree of 6 January 2025 on film subsidies, it is the National Cultural Foundation that administers the subsidy for film, and this is therefore the next round of subsidies since the authorization has been transferred to the National Cultural Foundation. As stipulated in the Decree, the Foundation has appointed two film consultants to evaluate and make recommendations to the Foundation. The committee’s decision on who receives funding for a film is based on recommendations from the consultants.
17 applications were received for the next round of funding, applying for a total of ISK 2,706,475. The total film budget for 2025 is ISK 4.6 million. kr. Film grants are awarded four times a year.
