7. b in the Eysturskúlan Science of the Year 2025

Today, Thursday 12 June, it was announced on https://www.gransking.fo/, that the 7th grade in Eysturskóli received the award as Science of the Year 2025. They received it for the report: “Why do people dream?”

Representatives of the jury were at the school and presented the class with a certificate of honor and a prize of 3.000 kr.

The jury thought that the task of this group had an original topic and an interesting surprise question. The work was well described, and the students showed that they can use the working methods of the scientists.

They had good reports and reflections on their dreams and it was interesting to read what they could think of working on further.

Overall, the assignment was clear and coherent, and showed independent research work.

In this group were: Brandur, Pætur, Baltasar, Róaldur and Prince.

A round of applause to the 5th grade at Skúlatrøð

The deadline for submitting entries to the annual competition was 15 May. There were 9 reports from 4 schools.

A jury of 4 representatives has read and evaluated the reports. These are Ingi Heinesen Højsted researcher, Henny Dánialsdóttir and Bogi Otthamar, teachers and advisors at Nám, and Brynhild Næs Petersen for the Research Council.

In addition to the winner, the jury chose to give a group from 5. b at Skúlatrøð an applause for good and independent work. The applause is a special honor, which the group receives together with 1.500 kr.

The group wondered if it was possible to change the taste of watermelon and lemon if they used salt and sugar.

We thank all the participating groups for their dedication and contribution.
