Seismic activity is more intense in southern and eastern Spain.
The province of Málaga is located near the boundary between the African and Eurasian tectonic plates.
The last major earthquake in Spain was in 2021. There were more than 500 tremors in the entire region, incl. Andalusia.
Granada measured 4.4 on the Richter scale. No one was killed, but buildings were damaged.
