Einar is gone.

The message was heavy, now that it was learned that another cityscape had disappeared.

This time there were invitations from Einar Skaalar in Vágur. Einar was the son of Ebba and Bjarni Skaal in Vágur. Einar was 76 years old when he left.

We all have, taught Einar. A coffin of another price. Gentle and appropriate always. The last time I drove it out to Toftalíð was probably in April this year.

It must be said that both my parents knew Einar as well as I did. Einar grew up in the neighborhood of Toftalíð, where his grandmother, mother and father lived, in the early 1960s. Until the house burned to the ground in 1965.

I told my mother about the sad news that Einar Skaalum had passed away.

She answered immediately in a sad voice, from the delay “You mean it Levi, so came tears about Einar” So she added, such a well-known person should be sought for a long time.

Then there was talk about loose and fixed out in Toftalíð. About cheerfulness and friendship over many years. About Einar, siblings and parents.

She then came to Einar as a teenager, where he came a lot to the gate in Toftalíð, where the neighborhoods were all close to each other.

She also noticed that Einar always came in to Adolf’s confectionery. Where she, or Hjørdis’s grandmother or Saloma received this appropriate teenager. As always, he gave a smile.

I myself have known Einar all my life, we talked about everything when we met.

Especially the conversation was about music and about LP records, which we had in common, together with my brother Jens.

Einar was a happy person and as mentioned a cityscape, which everyone loved here in the village, perhaps because he loved everyone himself and did not discriminate against people.

I also worked with Einar at the Polarfrost fish factory in Vágur. There he was also very devoted as a person and quick.

Einar knew how to play the guitar and was also a DJ for a long time. Where he among other things put records on around the Faroe Islands and we in Vágur remember good moments among other things in the club. Where he made everyone swing.

As mentioned, he loved music and was happy that Dansibandsfestival and Ljósfest were in the village and he looked forward to these events as a child. You will be greatly missed friend by all of us.

With mercy and may the Lord strengthen you who are left behind.

Rest in peace dear friend and see you one day
