Overall, the Faroese women’s national volleyball team lost 3-0 to Northern Macedonia in the match in the Silver League, which was played at Sandur tonight, but the Faroe Islands regret the wasted opportunity to win the second set.
The Faroe Islands came badly from the start in the first set, where it stumbled with the receptions, and soon North Macedonia was leading 4-0 and then 12-3, and with another six points in a row the score became 21-7, before the set was won 25-11.
The difference shouldn’t be that big, because North Macedonia wasn’t that good either. We also saw that in the second set, when the Faroe Islands played full up against the visitors. After North Macedonia had taken the lead 10-5, the Faroe Islands went ahead 12-10 after fine serves from Anja Danielsen. After the Faroe Islands had taken the lead 17-13, it looked really good, but with four points in a row North Macedonia went ahead 19-18. However, the Faroe Islands went ahead again 21-20, but it was the last time the Faroe Islands were in the lead, because North Macedonia won the rest and the set 25-21.
The third set was also equally long, but ended in disappointment, when the Faroe Islands lost control in the middle of the set, after having been leading 10-9. North Macedonia won 11 of the next 13 balls, and so the score became 20-12, before North Macedonia won 25-16, which was unnecessarily much.
The top scorer in the game was Anja S. Danielsen with 12 points, and Jakobina Joensen was the one with the most receptions.
