Faroe Islands will play against Denmark or Sweden
The Nordic countries have three of the four teams in the semifinals of the U-21 World Cup for men.
Tonight Sweden won 32-26 (16-14) in the quarterfinals against Germany. For the Swedes, this feels like a serious resurrection, after Sweden in the last three World Cup competitions for the U-21 national team have not rocked among the top ten.
Earlier today it was announced that Denmark will be Sweden’s opponent. In a dramatic neighborhood match, Denmark won 25-23 (11-11) against Norway, which has not reached the semifinals of this tournament since 1995.
Portugal won the semi-finals earlier tonight with a 30-26 (13-13) victory against Egypt. This is the third time and the first time since 2019 that Portugal will try themselves in the semifinals of this tournament.
As the results turned out tonight, it is clear that the Faroe Islands will play against Sweden or Denmark on Sunday. Whether it will be one or the other and whether it will be in the final or in the match for the bronze medals will be known tomorrow night.
The semifinals will be as follows:
Friday 27 June at 10 am 20
Faroe Islands – Portugal
Denmark – Sweden
The bronze match will be played on Sunday at 4 pm.
The final will be on Sunday at 6 p.m.
