Faroe Islands won against France

It’s sensation over sensations. Tonight, the Faroese U-21 national handball team won against France in the semi-finals of the World Cup in Poland.

The result was 28-27 to Faroe Islands, after France at halftime was ahead 17-16.

The victory means that the Faroe Islands have secured a place in the World Cup quarterfinals, and that the Faroe Islands and Denmark, who won against Romania earlier today, will play for first place in the group tomorrow. The match will be at 15.15. Regardless of the result tomorrow, it is a reality that the Faroe Islands in U-21 handball for men are among the eight best in the world.

That the Faroe Islands win against France should be virtually impossible. But tonight the U-21 men showed that nothing is easy for them, and at the last minute the goalkeeper closed the goal behind the defence, which was seriously like a rock.

France were three goals ahead with 11 minutes left.

After that, the French scored only two goals.

The Faroese top scorer was Óli Mittún, who scored nine goals. Four of them were free kicks, which Óli was incredibly confident in when he handled them.

After the match, Óli Mittún was voted the best player tonight.

The other scorers were Ísak Vedelsbøl 4, Niklas Gaard 4, Rókur Ziskason 3, Høgni Heinason 3, Trúgvi Hávardsson 1, Høgni Højsted 1, Tóki Friðriksson 1, Búi Poulsen 1 and Sofus í Selvindi Nattestad 1 goal.
