Faroese triathletes participate in competitions in Denmark
It was 30 degrees, the sun was shining up and down, and there was a real tri-atmosphere when the Faroese athletes were sent out to Jels sø in southern Jutland at 10:00. 11.00 Sunday morning 22 June.
The four Anna Lovisa Mýri, Bergtór Tórsteinsson and Magni J. Hansen from Norðstrok and Andrass Joensen from TSF, who together with about 100 other athletes were to show their skills.
The distance they competed in was 950 m swimming, 45 km cycling and 10.5 km running. We swam in Jels sø, cycled on the roads around Jels and then ran on various streets around Jels sø.
Anna Lovisa competed in the open group for women, she finished as number 8 out of 18 women. Anna Lovisa’s total time was 2 hours and 57 minutes.
Bergtór and Magni competed in the open group for men. 34 people participated in this group.
Bergtór finished 11th. Bergtór’s total time was 2 hours and 26 minutes. Bergtór says that he is very satisfied with the swimming and cycling, but that the heat disturbed the race a lot.
Magni finished as number 5. Magni’s time was 2 hours and 12 minutes. It went well. The transitions from swimming to cycling and from cycling to running went well. He cycled ok, but didn’t run as fast as he usually does. It is possible that it was also a lot of heat that affected.
