Gas station blown up in Rome
Up to 40 people, including new police officers, are rescued by broken glass and metal pieces.
This is reported by Eva Ravnbøl, a reporter for TV 2 in Italy, who was present at an explosion at a gas station.
– It has truly been an incredibly unusual and violent explosion.
It happened when a large tanker was about to fill up at the gas station, and there was probably some gasoline leak.
It is still too early to say what caused the accident, she says.
However, the timing was in many ways fortunate.
– Right next to the station is a summer school, where only a few children attended and were evacuated.
If it had happened an hour later, I can’t even imagine what could have happened, says Eva Ravnbøl.
People living near the explosion are asked to wash fruit, vegetables and other food thoroughly before eating.
They should also get tested if they start to feel discomfort in their throat
