Hallur goes from nightmare to imaginary reality

It will be Hallur Hansson, who will be the captain, when the Faroe Islands tomorrow night at Torsvøll go to play against Gibraltar

For the captain, who on Thursday night in Georgia was on the national team for the 75th time, it is a remarkable match, because this is the first time since June 11, 2022, that he will play at home. This time Lithuania was the opponent in the UEFA Nations League, and the Faroe Islands won 2-1. Hallur, who then represented KR in Reykjavik, replaced Jákup B. Andreasen in the middle of the second half.

Since then, Hallur has been badly paralyzed by a knee injury. He didn’t play for more than a year. This year he has seriously regained his skills, and now he is again captain of the national team:

-During the long training I doubted whether I would be able to play for the national team again. It feels great to represent my country, and that’s why I’m very happy tomorrow to get permission to play again at Torsvøll. We are the favourites, and I have a good feeling that we will win, says the captain in an interview with dimma.fo.

The first time Hallur was on the national team was on 11 March 2011, when the Faroe Islands with Brian Kerr as coach were on a training camp in Spain. It was an informal national match against Gibraltar, which won 3-0. It was humiliation.

Three years later, on March 1, 2014, things turned out completely different. Then the Faroe Islands won 4-1 in Gibraltar, and Hallur Hansson scored to 3-1.

Now it’s about Gibraltar tomorrow night, and Hallur Hansson thinks that there is every reason to expect a good Faroese performance.

-There is a lot of competition for the places on the team. Perhaps the level has never been higher than it is now, and it doesn’t work if you don’t have the focus in the right place and give yourself fully. We have the experience we need, and no one has reason to underestimate Gibraltar. It will be a draw, which we have a chance to win, and we intend to do so, says Hallur Hansson, captain of the national team, which will play against Gibraltar on 2nd White Sunday at 19.45 at Torsvøll.
