Heatwave hits Europe
Authorities across Europe are on alert as the first heat wave of the summer pushes temperatures up to 42C.
Spain’s state meteorological agency, Aemet, issued a special heat warning on Friday.
The temperature may reach 42C in some of the southern areas of the country in the coming days.
In the Seville area maybe even up to 46C.
Very high and persistent temperatures are expected, both during the day and at night, which can be a problem for exposed and vulnerable people, says Aemet.
Madrid’s health ministry also warned people to take extra care in the heat, reminding them to stay out of the sun, stay hydrated and pay attention to those who are elderly, pregnant or have chronic health problems.
Two thirds of Portugal will experience extreme heat and forest fires on Sunday, as temperatures are expected to reach 42C in Lisbon.
Dimma.fo has earlier this year written an article about the heat in Spain. There we wrote the sun and heat advice that Aemet sent out.
If you are in the south on holiday, it is advisable to get acquainted with these tips.
