History repeated itself in the east
History tends to repeat itself, and so it was again on Thursday night, when Georgia and Faroe Islands met in a training match at the Dinamo Arena in Tbilisi.
The home team had the ball more than us, but it rarely became really problematic. The only goal of the match was scored by Luka Lochoshvili in the 9th minute, when the tall Georgian defender was tall after a corner and shot the ball into the net.
The rest of the game was even, but no more goals were scored. The Faroe Islands had some good chances in the second half, but the last precision was missing in the decisive moments.
– This was a good training match. We got to try something new tactically, and more younger players got to try themselves. We regret that we lost. Again we got a boring goal against us, and so we were not sharp enough in the good attacking positions.
– The match was also a good preparation for the task against Gibraltar on Monday and for the other matches this autumn, says national team coach Eyðun Klakstein to the FSF website
The World Cup qualifying match between Faroe Islands and Gibraltar will take place at Torsvøll on White Sunday, Monday 9 June at 19:45. Tickets are available in the online shop at FSF.fo and at atgongumerki.fo.
