Iceland won 3-0 against Faroe Islands

Silver, women:

Faroe Islands – Iceland 3-0 (19-25, 18-25, 18-25)

Last month we saw in the training matches against Iceland that Iceland had the difference, and Iceland still has it, after the Faroese women’s national volleyball team tonight lost 3-0 to the neighbors to the west. However, the match was played in Luxembourg, which hosts the third and final round of the Silver League.

At times, the Faroe Islands stood Iceland close, but overall Iceland won a solid 3-0 victory.

It was the Faroe Islands, however, who took the lead 4-1, but six balls later Iceland was ahead 7-4. The difference grew to 20-10 before the Faroe Islands tortured something about the result of the set, which Iceland won 25-19.

The Faroe Islands took the lead again in the second set, 7-3, but the next 10 balls the Faroe Islands won only one, and so the score became 12-8 to Iceland.

The Faroe Islands recovered and equalized to 16-16, but after Iceland had taken the lead 19-18, Iceland put a stop to it and won the next six balls and set the score 25-18.

However, the Faroe Islands had not lost the tournament and followed to 13-13 in the third set. But then came the scrap, because with six points in a row Iceland went ahead 19-13, and so it was only a matter of time, until Iceland had won 25-18.

For the Faroe Islands, Anja S. Danielsen scored 9 points and Hanna A. Olsen scored 7.

Sunday at. 16, the Faroe Islands will play their last match in the tournament against Luxembourg, who yesterday lost 3-2 to Iceland.
