It was in last night’s match against Georgia that Petur Knudsen was forced off the pitch with an injury, after the strong Runavíkingur was substituted shortly before.
How serious the injury is, is not yet clear, but Petur will not be fit enough for the World Cup qualifier at Torsvøll on Monday night, when Gibraltar comes to visit.
Instead, Eyðun Klakstein, coach of the men’s national team, has sent an invitation for Jóan Símun Edmundsson, who plays for KA Akureyri in Iceland.
– It’s nice to have received a national team call-up again, but I’m also sorry that Petur Knudsen has been injured, and want to wish him a good recovery. Now I’m looking forward to meeting the squad tomorrow and then starting the preparations for the national team match against Gibraltar, says Jóan Símun Edmundsson to the FSF website.
