More competitors for a place in Europa

This year’s national championship is about to be halfway through. 13 rounds are completed, and the competition is thus suddenly over. In a week there will be the 14th round and the competition will be more than halfway through.

Today the points were set for the 13th round, when it in good weather in Gundadali ended 2-2 between B36 and NSÍ. The internal matches between these two clubs turn out to be among the most exciting this year. In the first round, the pulse was tight until the last minute, when NSÍ at home won 4-3 against B36, who were ahead 1-0 and 3-1, and today the excitement was again at its peak until the last minute, when it ended 2-2, after NSÍ was ahead both 1-2 and 1-1.

Apart from Gundadali, in the 13th round there were clear favorites, who all won. KÍ, HB and Víkingur were big favourites, and they all won thrilling victories away. EB/Streymur was a clear favorite at home against FC Suðuroy, who were leading 1-0, until there were a few minutes left and then lost 2-1.

This was also the case with FC Suðuroy, who were 2-0 ahead at home against B36 and then lost 3-2.

Three clubs are in an exciting competition for fourth place. B36 has 21 points, and Víkingur and EB/Streymur have 20 points.

Tuesday will be the second semifinals of the competition for the løgmanssteypið. Then it will undoubtedly be confirmed that the cup final will be between KÍ and Víkingur. If the standings at the end of the season look like they do after 13 rounds, B36’s fourth place will only qualify for Europe if KÍ becomes the champion. If Víkingur wins the cup final and qualifies for Europe in a year, B36’s fourth place will not bring international participation.

Next weekend will be Christmas Eve, and then both FC Suðuroy and TB will play at home. At the moment, the clubs in Suðuroy together with 07 Vestur are the favorite options to move down.

On Saturday it will be the opponent, which the team in Suðuroy must win points against, if it is to be a chance to escape relegation. FC Suðuroy has a home ground against B68, and TB has a home ground against EB/Streymur, which in the last six rounds has won 13 points.
