Niclas Højgaard Eysturoy has a Ph.D. about knee examinations in the Faroe Islands

On Friday 20 June, Niclas Højgaard Eysturoy, chief physician at the National Hospital of Iceland, defended his PhD thesis on the Faroese knee research group, which he has worked on for several years.

In the project, Niclas Højgaard Eysturoy has investigated the frequency, causes and impact of knee osteoarthritis on young people in Faroe Islands. It will also be investigated whether this is relevant to the development of osteoarthritis beyond the knee joint and its impact on quality of life.

He has worked at the National Hospital of Iceland and has been enrolled for PhD studies at the University of Copenhagen.

Kristoffer Barfod, professor at the University of Copenhagen and specialist in orthopedics at Bispebjerg Hospital, has been the chief supervisor, while Lars Blønd, chief physician at Aleris Hospital Søborg, and Hans-Christen Husum, researcher at Aalborg University Hospital, have been assistant supervisors.The evaluation committee included: Adam Witten, clinical lecturer at the Institute of Clinical Medicine, University of Copenhagen, and physician at Hvidovre Hospital, chairmanOle Rahbæk, professor and chief physician at Aalborg University Hospital
