    The race is postponed.

RSF writes:Dear rowers and all rowing enthusiasts

The Faroese Rowing Federation would like to announce that the rowing on St. John’s Day will be postponed from Saturday 21 June to Sunday 22 June. The decision to postpone is made after extensive discussions with meteorologists, professionals and local people, as well as with Froðbiar Parish Rowing Club.

The weather forecast for Saturday calls for strong winds and especially heavy rain in the afternoon. Everyone who has been involved in the assessment is in agreement that the probability of rowing is – at best – uncertain, and most likely too difficult to handle the rowing in a safe and reasonable manner.

However, it is pleasant that the forecast for Sunday is much better: little wind and only slight precipitation. With this we have chosen to move the rowing to ensure a good St. John’s Day rowing – for both children and adults.

The travel opportunities will also be guaranteed: We have been in contact with Strandferðslan and they will provide information about the itinerary as soon as possible. A new starting line will be made when we know Smyril’s itinerary.

The Rowing Federation of Iceland and FSR regret the situation, but we hope that everyone is understanding. We do this to ensure that the St. John’s Day rowing will be a good and memorable experience for all participants and spectators.
