Possible ceasefire underway between Hamas and Israel

Hamas is open to a ceasefire agreement with Israel, but the militant group insists that any agreement with Israel must lead to an end to the war in Gaza.

According to Hamas official spokesman Taher al-Nunu, the group is seriously ready to reach an agreement.

The announcement comes about five hours after US President Donald Trump announced that Israel has accepted a series of conditions for a 60-day ceasefire.

According to Trump, the 60 days will be used to work to end the war.

But Israel has previously stated that this cannot be accepted until Israel has defeated Hamas.

According to Reuters, Hamas is now responding to the proposal.

Hamas says it is now reviewing the ceasefire proposal it received from mediators.
