The KÍ stands inquiringly.
– We and others with us, stand asking why Klaksvík Municipality can not find another solution – which we have also pointed out, says Tummas Lervig, now the city council according to plan will long-term lead the halls in the northern end of the KÍ hall to after-school from the summer of 2025 and two years ahead.
We have spoken to Tummas Lervig, chairman of KÍ and asked him for a comment on today’s news that the halls in the KÍ hall will be used for after-school activities.
– A few years ago an agreement was made how all halls and halls should be used by sports clubs that operate on the land register. It was also decided which halls would be shared and which could be used according to the needs of individual clubs. Since then, these spaces have been used for a wide range of events, for several sports clubs in the town, says Tummas
– In addition, these halls are also of great importance for UEFA approvals, because they are part of the halls that we must make available, says Tummas.
The long-term lease/binding of parts of the premises to other activities outside the land registry was not the intention of this agreement. Knowing that there is a city council resolution based on the same agreement – does not justify a possible decision by Klaksvík Municipality to move other activities into the land register that are not sports related, says Tummas
– It is also shocking that the municipality – without any communication with those who daily use the halls – make decisions about what the halls should be used for. There has been a lack of communication from the beginning, says Tummas Lervig to Norðlýsið at the end
