The annual concert event Voxbotn will be moved down to the new hall at Tjarnir.

The weather forecast for Saturday is not good. Terrible weather is expected – so terrible that it is not considered appropriate to gather 4500 people in Vágsbotn.
Therefore, the organizers, together with the relevant authorities, have decided to move the big concert day down to the big hall at Tjarnir.
This is of course sad, because the conditions in Vágsbotn are a big and important part of the OY Voxbotnhugna. But if the weather is as promised, it is not possible to install large platforms – the wind is too much, and the platforms can not withstand such wind, say the organizers.
According to the current weather forecast, the wind on Saturday night may reach 17 meters per second, and the whirlpools may reach more than 20 meters per second. The platforms are approved for 17 meters per second, and therefore a whirlpool above this wind speed can make the situation problematic and dangerous for people, both on and around the platform. The direction is also unfortunate, because the wind blows directly into the platform.
The organizers have waited as long as possible, hoping that the weather conditions would change, but unfortunately they have remained unchanged since this morning. That’s why it was necessary to make the decision now, because it takes a lot of work and time to set up stages and organize the concert venue. Much must be prepared: poetry, lights, shifts, shops, toilet facilities and much more. To achieve all this, it was necessary to make the decision already today, Wednesday evening, June 25.
It will also be confirmed that the concert experience of the many who have bought tickets would not have been satisfactory if the weather were as bad as reported.
Safety is the highest priorityFortunately, we now have a large hall that can accommodate such an event.
The organizers have been in contact with all the musicians, and all have confirmed that they will be there and play in the big hall at Tjarnir.
– This brings some challenges, but it is the safest solution to move the event indoors. In the big hall at Tjarnir we have a world-class hall, and there we can ensure both quality and safety for all visitors.
– We regret the situation, but in terms of safety and quality of experience, this is the right decision, say the organizers.
