When political games become problematic
These days, five parties have submitted an empty document on an agreement that will take the Faroe Islands “further” The truth is, however, that they are on their way out of the commonwealth.
What is described as a new course is in reality a hidden solution – composed of statements without content, intention or security.
For my part, as a member of parliament for the Union Party, I can say directly that this is not politics for me.
This is irresponsible rhetoric, which can have serious consequences for the future of the Faroese.
What do the Commonwealth people say about this so-called five-party dream?
What do members of the Liberal Party, the Center Party and the People’s Party say about the fact that their own party leadership is now turning its back on an approach that actually leads us out of the commonwealth?
Will they sit with an inevitable feeling and are they also tired of misunderstood nationalism?
For what guarantee do we have that this will not end in complete separation – without foundation, financial security, protection, without rights and without hope for a sustainable welfare state? Yes! Because the plan doesn’t exist! It is only a terrible desire to withdraw from the Kingdom.
This is the classic democratic rhetoric that is now being used by democrats from the other parties.
“We’ll find out”
”Let’s do it now”
“It’s going to take some getting used to”
”Everything will be better”
But you can’t run a country in blind faith. We have a responsibility!
The Social Democratic Party has one plan – the others do not
We have already discussed how the statehood can be adapted to the times – a new federal model – where work should be done towards giving the Faroe Islands more channel space within a secure association with Denmark.
Our goals are clear, and our work is based on real principles, not symbolic politics!
However, we now have an alliance with the player, who have all agreed to run out of the safe platform, but they have neither maps, instructions, parachutes or emergency exits.
Now it’s time to wake up – especially coalition partners from the other parties.
You who want the statehood must make it clear that you are no longer represented. The Social Democratic Party stands alone – but steadfast
We choose not to gamble with our future. We choose to work, as one has always done in the Social Democratic Party.
With reason, responsibility, and towards a future where the Faroe Islands stand strong – NOT alone – but secure and self-governing within a modern statehood.
We can’t afford to get drawn into a game that we have neither an invitation nor a book for.
