3 pairs of brothers on the Icelandic national team

It is not unusual for siblings to do the same sport. It also happens even more often that siblings are on the same teams and then end up on national teams. However, it is rather unusual that 3 pairs of brothers are on the A-team at the same time and that they also all have a key role on the team.

From the left in the picture, we have the twin brothers Filip Ilic (Edge) and Vuk Ilic (diagonal), who have their origins in Mjølnir, in Klaksvík.

In the middle we have first Jákup Árni Elisson Wang (ASV Århus) and his older brother Jóhan Arni Elisson Wang (Fleyr), who both play midfield.

On the far right we have Hjørtur Joensen (diagonal) and his little brother Bjarni Joensen (edge), both of whom have their origins in Sørvágur Sports Club.

In addition to this special brother combination, head coach Boban Ilic is also the father of twins Filip and Vuk Ilic.
