In a passionate address following his election victory, Péter Magyar delivered a bold message, calling for the resignations of several key figures in Hungary’s judiciary and regulatory bodies. His appeal targeted the head of the Supreme Court, the national prosecutor, and leaders of both the media and competition agencies.

Magyar asserted that the independence of these institutions has been compromised over the past 16 years, laying the blame squarely on the tenure of outgoing Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. “Our independent institutions have been hijacked,” he declared, emphasizing the urgent need for reform and accountability.

Looking ahead, Magyar painted a picture of Hungary as a steadfast ally of both the European Union and NATO. He promised a commitment to transparency and cooperation, stating, “We will connect to the European Public Prosecutor’s Office.”

Addressing the enthusiastic crowd, he emphasized that those who have “deceived” Hungary would be held accountable, igniting a wave of approval among his supporters. His speech underscored a pivotal moment in Hungarian politics, as he seeks to reclaim a sense of integrity and independence for the nation’s institutions.
