Frankie Dettori Injured in Car Accident: A Look at the Incident and His Recovery
Frankie Dettori, the renowned jockey, sustained multiple broken ribs along with a fractured thumb following a car accident in Newmarket on the evening of July 1. He is currently hospitalized, where doctors are continuing to assess his condition through further scans and observation.
According to H Talent Management, Dettori was driving when another vehicle collided with the rear passenger side of his car, causing it to spin and flip. In a statement, they confirmed, “Frankie was taken to hospital and found to have sustained several broken ribs and a broken thumb. His injuries are still being assessed, and he remains in hospital for further scans and observation.”
Dettori expressed his gratitude towards the emergency services who responded at the scene, as well as the doctors, nurses, and medical staff dedicated to his care. “His focus is now on resting and recovering,” the statement added, also urging respect for his privacy during this challenging time. “No further comment will be made until there is a meaningful update.”
The beloved jockey last rode in Britain in October 2023, where he clinched victory at the Champion Stakes on King Of Steel at Ascot. Prior to this incident, Dettori was set to make a return to the saddle at the Leger Legends race in Doncaster during the St Leger Festival in September.
