SunRisers Leeds Secure Spot in The Hundred Women’s Final with Nail-Biting Victory

In a thrilling eliminator at The Kia Oval, SunRisers Leeds edged out Southern Brave by five wickets, securing their place in the women’s final of The Hundred against Trent Rockets.

Chasing a modest total of 115, SunRisers found themselves in a precarious position at 54 for 3, struggling after the departure of their explosive Australian duo, Phoebe Litchfield (4 runs) and Annabel Sutherland (17 off 12 balls). The situation worsened further when they slipped to 95 for 5, as the impressive Issy Wong seized two wickets in consecutive deliveries.

Wong, who had earlier dismissed tournament leading run-scorer Litchfield, also claimed the scalp of Lauren Winfield-Hill, who managed a steady 37 off 37 balls, before knocking SunRisers’ captain Dani Gibson out with her very first delivery, leaving the team reeling.

However, it was India’s Deepti Sharma who remained unflappable amid the chaos. Her composed innings of 28 runs off 22 balls guided SunRisers to victory, finishing the game with 11 balls to spare and paving the way to Sunday’s final at Lord’s.

This outcome mirrors the recent fortunes of Southern Brave, once the early pace-setters of the tournament, now facing their fourth consecutive defeat after an impressive start of five straight wins.

As the defending champions—previously known as Northern Superchargers—SunRisers are heading into the final with momentum, having won their last five matches. They will face a formidable Trent Rockets side, who have been equally impressive, clinching the top spot in the women’s table with six consecutive wins.

    When is The Hundred Final?

SunRisers Leeds will face Trent Rockets in the women’s final at Lord’s on Sunday, August 16. The final is set for 2:15 PM, followed by the men’s final at 6 PM, both live on Sky Sports Cricket.
