Arsenal has rekindled discussions regarding a potential move for Aston Villa central defender Ezri Konsa. In recent days, the Gunners have made it clear that they intend to enhance their initial offer, which hovered around £30 million for the England international.
Yet, a significant gap remains. Arsenal’s valuation still falls well short of the £60 million asking price set by Villa. Currently, Aston Villa shows no signs of budging on their demand, standing firm on their valuation.
The 28-year-old Konsa, who is still enjoying his holiday following the World Cup, has emerged as a key target for manager Mikel Arteta as he seeks to bolster his defensive lineup. With the Premier League champions recently acquiring Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle, their focus has shifted towards reinforcing their defense, and Konsa’s versatility is particularly appealing to Arteta.
Moreover, multiple sources have informed BBC Sport that the Gunners engaged in initial talks with Tottenham about a possible deal for their club captain, Cristian Romero, prior to Spurs reaching an agreement with Atletico Madrid.
Last season, Konsa showcased his talent by playing 48 matches in all competitions for Aston Villa, where he celebrated victory in the Europa League.
