Drone Panic Grips Denmark
At the close of September last year, Denmark found itself in the throes of a drone crisis. Panic swept through the nation after reports emerged of a foreign drone spotted over Copenhagen Airport, leading to the facility’s closure for several hours.
In the days that followed, sightings of what were believed to be drones proliferated over various airports and military sites. Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen described the unsettling incidents as a hybrid attack on the country.
However, as investigations unfolded, it became apparent that much of the drone activity was questionable. Despite an extensive inquiry, Copenhagen Police have yet to confirm whether drones were indeed present at the airport during its closure.
In the midst of this uncertainty, Denmark’s Defense Ministry asserted that drones had been observed over the country. This claim was reiterated by both the Chief of Defense and the Minister of Defense during a press conference held just over two weeks ago, following the release of a long-anticipated report.
Yet, new revelations are now casting doubt on the findings of this report. According to TV 2, a single Messenger message has raised significant questions about the Defense’s conclusions. The Defense admitted that 43 gunshots were fired only after a plane had already passed the shooting range—notably, this occurred around 8:20 PM, whereas a possible drone sighting had been reported at 8:15 PM.
This discrepancy is not going unnoticed. Local resident Helge Madsen, who lives near the shooting range, reported hearing gunfire well before the Defense indicated the shots were fired. His account is substantiated by a Messenger message he sent to a friend at 8:09 PM, just moments prior to the drone sighting—this timing aligns closely with the flight of a civilian aircraft over the area.
Reports from DR confirm they have also spoken with Madsen, who shared the content of his Messenger message, highlighting the growing skepticism surrounding the official narrative.
