Vár Guriardóttir Hansen to Compete in Rowing Championship in Singapore

Vár Guriardóttir Hansen is gearing up for an exciting challenge as she prepares to compete in the rowing championships using an ergometer in Singapore later this month.

Eight women have secured spots in this prestigious competition, and the Faroese rower clinched the top position during the preliminary rounds held between September 1 and October 15. Her performance was impressive, placing her ahead of competitors from the USA, Canada, and Great Britain.

“I was quite surprised. It was around one in the morning when I saw the results, and I think I cried for about two hours. I was so happy,” Vár shared, reflecting on the emotions that followed her victory.

This competition will see her going head-to-head with the top contenders from last year’s World Rowing Versa Challenge, further ramping up the intensity of the event.

“The key for me has been shifting my focus and incorporating intense training. I’ve enjoyed the process and have pursued what motivates me, which has led to my progress,” Vár explained. Her experience encompasses traditional Faroese rowing, strength training, and, of course, ergometer rowing.

The upcoming challenge will not only test her endurance but also her adaptability, as she faces a variety of challenges beyond just a singular course. The competition is set to unfold on November 29 and 30, promising an exhilarating few days for both athletes and fans alike.
