Jóannes Kalsø Danielsen openly acknowledged that KÍ never truly found their footing in the cup final against Víkingur.

“We’re feeling pretty empty right now. Today, we simply weren’t good enough, even with the draw. We know we can perform much better, but Víkingur executed their game plan effectively and thoroughly deserved their victory,” the defender reflected.

He observed that Víkingur excelled in creating challenging opportunities for themselves, capitalizing on those chances with fervor.

“It’s usually us who thrive on set pieces, so it feels discouraging that nothing seemed to go our way today. But that’s football for you,” Danielsen stated.

This season has posed unique challenges for KÍ in Klaksvík. The team failed to qualify for the European league and finds itself struggling to keep pace with the frontrunners in the national championship, NSÍ.

“We’ve faced quite a few setbacks lately. We had three opportunities to reach the group stage, but we fell short, and we let a win slip against NSÍ, not to mention today’s result,” Danielsen noted, maintaining that their journey in the tournament is far from over.

“Tomorrow, we’ll roll up our sleeves and start rebuilding for next week. There’s still a lot left to fight for,” he concluded, embodying a spirit of resilience despite the tough circumstances.
