In a heartbreaking announcement, the world of music mourns the loss of Dolly Parton, who has passed away at the age of 80. The news was shared in a poignant video posted on Dolly’s Instagram account by her nephew, Bryan Seaver.
As one of country music’s most celebrated figures, Parton was not only a remarkable performer but also a trailblazing songwriter, known for timeless hits such as “I Will Always Love You,” famously covered by Whitney Houston, alongside classics like “Jolene,” “9 to 5,” and “Coat of Many Colors.” Over her illustrious career, she is estimated to have sold more than 100 million records globally.
Ingi Samuelsen, a host at Jambalaja radio, reflected on her profound impact. “There’s no doubt about what we have lost with Dolly’s death,” he remarked. “She was one of the great songwriters in country music and an invaluable role model, particularly for aspiring female songwriters. You can hardly find a female artist in this genre who doesn’t look up to her, alongside legends like Loretta Lynn.”
