Train Disruption Leaves Passengers in Fog, Replacement Buses to the Rescue
A thick fog caused significant disruptions for travelers on the Mälartåg line, as an electrical fault rendered the trains inoperable. Åsa Elm, the spokesperson for Transdev, which operates the service, explained, “The fog could not be moved due to the electrical issue, and passengers had to disembark. Our staff quickly assisted them in boarding replacement buses to continue their journey to Nyköping.”
Between 75 and 100 passengers were evacuated, and according to Elm, the operation went smoothly despite the unforeseen circumstances.
The train stations affected by this interruption included Flemingsberg, Kolmården, Norrköping C, Nyköping C, Stockholm C, Södertälje Syd, and Vagnhärad.
Just after 9 PM, train services resumed normal operations. However, Trafikverket has cautioned that residual delays may still impact travelers.
