In a recent interview with DR, Troels Lund Poulsen attributed the delay in tabling the bill to what he characterized as Mette Frederiksen’s “premature” call for a general election.
When asked if he accepted this reasoning, Jeppe Bruus replied thoughtfully, “My main concern is what actions I can take myself.” He reassured that as a minister, he would prioritize introducing this bill in the upcoming legislative agenda.
### Acknowledging Sacrifice and Struggles
For over a decade, the Soldiers’ Union, HKKF, has advocated for a significant shift in the burden of proof to facilitate compensation for veterans like Mads Fahrenholtz. The prolonged wait for the bill, two long years according to federal chairman Tom Block—who himself served as a veteran—has been particularly frustrating.
“This issue involves individuals who have risked their lives for Denmark, only to find themselves battling with the system upon their return,” Block stated. “It’s simply not fair.”
He expressed relief that the long-awaited rule is finally on the horizon, viewing it as a fundamental acknowledgment of the sacrifices made by service members. “This is about respect and recognition. It’s crucial for all soldiers to know that when we are deployed, society stands with us upon our return, ready to support us if we encounter challenges.”
