The Faroese boy band Tøgn, a supergroup comprised of several well-known musicians, is back in the limelight with exciting news.
Their latest single, “No Words,” marks Tøgn’s third release, and it’s already generating buzz.
With an energetic beat perfect for the lingering days of summer, the four members—Bárður Petersen, Beinir Troest Rasmussen, Filip Zachariassen, and Jónas Gaard—express their enthusiasm for this new track.
We had the opportunity to sit down with Beinir Troest Rasmussen to discuss the single and what lies ahead for Tøgn.
What kind of song is “No Words”?
“No Words” is a vibrant pop anthem exploring the beauty of relationships that require no words. It conveys the sentiment that sometimes, mere presence is all that matters. Life may lead us on different paths, but when we reunite, the connection remains unchanged. The track was recorded at Oyrasund College (B613) and Ekho Ekho in Copenhagen.
You seem to be quite active lately. What’s the driving force behind it?
Simply put, we love writing and making music together.
What can fans expect next?
We’re currently working on a full album that will feature the three singles we’ve released thus far. We can’t wait to share our new material with everyone.
What’s the mission of Tøgn?
Our primary goal is to create meaningful music in Faroese that resonates with people. The Faroese language holds immense significance for us. Despite living in Denmark, our hearts remain deeply connected to the Faroe Islands. We aim to demonstrate that Faroese can shine in modern pop and indie music, helping to usher Faroese sound into new territories.
Are you concerned that Tøgn might overshadow your solo career?
Haha, maybe there’s some truth to that! But I see it differently—we don’t view Tøgn and our individual projects as competitors. Ideally, they can complement each other, and if Tøgn were to eclipse our solo endeavors, we would embrace that wholeheartedly.
