EB Faces Tough Start in Men’s League
The men from Eiði experienced a challenging initiation into the top tier of handball this week. In their very first match in the premier men’s league, they squared off against Neistin at Halsi in Havn, only to be handed a decisive 38-21 defeat. EB held their ground for the first 20 minutes, but once the home team seized momentum, there was no looking back.
A noteworthy highlight of the match was the return of Rói Berg Hansen to Neistin after a lengthy hiatus. The seasoned winger marked his comeback with an impressive performance, netting four goals.
In other action, H71 demonstrated their status as favorites, overcoming KÍF with a score of 38-32. Boas Ellefsen, playing for Skipagøta, shone brightly in this contest, scoring an astounding 14 goals.
Meanwhile, VÍF secured a solid 41-30 victory against StÍF, and Kyndil triumphed over Team Klaksvík with a score of 40-21.
A One-Sided Affair in Women’s Handball
In women’s league action, VÍF delivered a commanding performance against StÍF at Skáli, winning decisively 39-13. Rakul Borgarlíð Joensen stood out for the away team, contributing 10 goals to ensure victory.
Earlier, Stjörnan edged past Kyndil with a narrow 24-22 win in Havn. On Friday night, Neistin claimed a 30-20 win against EB at Halsi, thanks in part to playing coach Maria Fisker Stokholm, who found the net seven times. Not to be outdone, Anna Sigrunardóttir Mikkelsen was also a key player for Neistin, tallying seven goals of her own.
