B71 Makes Triumphant Return to Top Football League After 15-Year Hiatus
In a thrilling display of skill and determination, B71 has secured its place in the top division of Faroese football after a 15-year absence.
The team celebrated their promotion today with a decisive 5-3 victory over B36 in Dalur, a match that showcased their prowess against the league’s second-best side.
With this win, B71 solidifies its position at the top of the standings, now boasting an impressive eight-point lead over Víking and a nine-point cushion above FC Suðuroy. It’s a remarkable turnaround that guarantees they cannot slip below third place in the 1. deild.
B71 took an early lead, going into halftime with a two-goal advantage. However, the home team responded, narrowing the gap with a strong performance. Notably, Lucas Ørneborg, the league’s leading scorer, netted two of their goals. Despite B36’s late surge, B71’s solid defense held firm, ensuring their victory.
With six matches remaining in the season, B71, who have not lost a game since March, are poised for a jubilant celebration.
