Time Travel Meets Holiday Cheer in “Time Youth”

Time travel is a familiar motif in the world of Christmas-themed narratives, weaving together stories that blur the lines between past and present. From “The Hunt for the Time Crystal” to “1000 Years Till Christmas Evening,” and titles like “Mirakel” and “Barna Hedenhös Uppfinner Julen,” the genre invites audiences to experience the magic that occurs when temporal boundaries dissolve.

In the captivating new series “Time Youth,” the protagonist Clint embarks on a quest to locate his missing father, armed with a peculiar gadget: time binoculars. Yet, these aren’t your everyday optics. By the second episode, we see a bewildered, candy-loving Gustav Vasa transported 500 years into the future, illustrating just how challenging – and chaotic – this tool can be.

A Journey Sparked by Bildsköne Bengtsson

Clint, who holds a deep aversion to Christmas due to its painful ties to his father’s disappearance, is portrayed with sensitivity by Gusten Wickberg. He is supported by Blanca Eliasson, who brings to life the more optimistic character of Clint’s sister, Vida.

As Wickberg notes, “There’s a lot going on; it’s exciting, so you can’t keep up.”

The siblings reside in the town of Kråksjö, affectionately dubbed “Tråksjö” by Mamma Moa, played by Maja Rung, the local tourism manager struggling to promote its charm. The monotony of their surroundings begins to shift when the enigmatic Bildsköne Bengtsson, portrayed by Simon J. Berger, arrives and inadvertently unlocks the potential of the time binoculars.

For a deeper dive into the characters and their journey, be sure to check out the interview with the actors in the clip.
