In the latest round of Italy’s Serie A, one game was notably absent, yet Virtus Bologna had no trouble securing another victory to maintain their position at the top of the standings.

Under the strategic guidance of coach Dusko Ivanovic, Virtus Bologna effortlessly triumphed over Treviso, finishing with a decisive score of 101-79. Following a challenging outing against FC Barcelona, Derrick Alston Jr. showcased his skills with one of his standout performances as a member of Virtus, netting 25 points and grabbing 4 rebounds. Carsen Edwards also contributed significantly, adding 15 points to the team’s total.

Treviso’s leading scorers included Osvaldas Olisevicius and Cruise Pinkins, both with 15 points, along with David Torresani, who added 12 to the tally.

The first half saw a closely contested battle, with Virtus edging ahead at 51-45. However, it was in the third quarter that they demonstrated their intent to fully clinch the victory. The defense shone brightly, allowing Virtus to concede just 9 points in the entire quarter. This stellar performance expanded their lead into comfortable double digits, turning the fourth quarter into little more than a formality.

With the conclusion of Round 8 last weekend, all teams in Serie A have now faced each other at least once.

STANDINGS: Brescia (7-1), Virtus Bologna (7-1), Trapani Sharks (7-1), Reyer Venecia (6-2), Tortona (6-2), Olimpia Milano (5-3).
