The Faroese Society for Nature and the Environment (FNU) is urging Eyðdis Hartmann Niclasen, the Minister of State, to take decisive action against the importation of non-native plants.
The organization highlights the ongoing issue of the squirrel plant, which remains available for purchase in the Faroe Islands, despite efforts to eradicate it from the local ecosystem where it continues to spread.
In response, Minister Niclasen has assured the public that steps are being taken to address these concerns, noting that a regulation aimed at controlling the import of introduced plants is in the works.
