The Danish Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen, has unveiled her new government, marking a significant moment in the nation’s political landscape.
Pia Olsen Dyhr will take the helm as Minister of Economy and Home Affairs, while Lars Løkke Rasmussen steps into the role of Foreign Minister. Jeppe Bruus will assume the position of Minister of Defence, bringing fresh perspectives to crucial national security matters.
In a noteworthy division of responsibilities, Peter Hummelgaard has been appointed as Minister of Finance, sharing the spotlight with Nicolai Wammen, who will lead as Minister of Justice. Monika Rubin will also play a vital role, serving as Minister of Social Affairs and Minister for Nordic Cooperation, while Zenia Stampe will address pressing issues as Minister of Mental Affairs.
Significantly, of the 21 ministers appointed, 11 are women, underscoring a historic milestone—this is the first time in Denmark’s history that women outnumber men in ministerial positions, as highlighted by TV2.
The new coalition, which includes the Social Democrats, the Socialist People’s Party, the Moderates, and the Radical Left, is currently with King Frederik at Amalienborg, finalizing arrangements for the government to officially take office.
