Our first stop is Rokkedyssegaard, conveniently the closest pick-your-own farm to Copenhagen. Originally a traditional family farm bought by the current owners’ parents, Mette and Bo, in 1961, it has blossomed into one of Denmark’s premier berry farms, celebrated for its strawberries, raspberries, and an array of seasonal fruit.
Getting there takes about an hour from Copenhagen Central Station. Simply take the S-train to Værløse, then catch bus 151 to Kirke Værløse. The bus stop is a mere 100 meters from the farm; alternatively, for the cycling enthusiasts, you can bring your bike on the train and ride the final 3 kilometers.

The drive from central Copenhagen takes less than an hour and makes for a rewarding day trip, especially if you pair your visit with the nearby Louisiana Museum of Modern Art—a mere 20 minutes away and well worth the excursion, combining stunning art with the beautiful coastal landscape of North Zealand and some of Denmark’s finest local produce.
As you stroll through the tree-lined entrance, you’ll be welcomed by clucking roosters, playful cats, and colorful flower gardens surrounding whimsical farm buildings, all contributing to a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. The summer café features Camilla’s seasonal organic dishes, and the farm shop brims with products ranging from flour, cider, and honey to preserves and seeds—indeed, Fuglebjerggaard’s webshop boasts one of the largest selections of organic seeds in Northern Europe.
From late June to November, visitors are invited to pick strawberries, raspberries, currants, and other ripe seasonal fruits. Additionally, the farm hosts gardening, baking, and cooking courses throughout the year.
Typically, the café and farm are open weekends from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., but checking the latest opening hours before you go is always a good idea.
