Motorists Report Dangerous Stunts by Motorcycle Gang in Kalmar
SVT Nyheter Småland has learned from a concerned motorist who witnessed a troubling scene on Saturday while traveling north on the E22 in Kalmar, near the Hansa shopping area. In a striking contrast, a large motorcycle gang was seen heading in the opposite direction.
Eyewitnesses claim that the motorcyclists were riding recklessly, occupying the entire roadway and engaging in dangerous stunts, including riding on their rear wheels, all amidst heavy traffic. Videos of these antics have surfaced on social media, capturing the chaotic spectacle.
However, law enforcement officials clarify that extraordinary stunts alone do not constitute illegal behavior. “Riding on the back wheel isn’t inherently illegal,” explains Niko Kalcidis, a municipal police officer in Kalmar. “The traffic regulations state that drivers must always operate their vehicles in a forward direction.”
A Notable Incident
The situation took a grave turn during the Epic Meet event, where an accident left two individuals seriously injured. The organizer of the event later addressed the incident on their Instagram account, noting that a severe crash occurred while participants were riding—a situation that marred their gathering as the evening progressed.
On Monday, Region Kronoberg provided an update, revealing that while the two injured individuals are no longer in the intensive care unit, they have been moved to a different facility. The full extent of their injuries remains unclear.
Attempts by SVT to reach the event organizers for further comment have gone unanswered.
